Games Watch #4

Saturday, October 1st, 2011

There are so many games on my games watch now I’m a little scared.  I have a number of titles already bought as part of my Birthday presents and these are the ones I’m keeping my eyes on:

Star Wars The Old Republic

I’ve actually already pre-purchased this one and I’m really looking forward to it. One of the things that is exciting me about it is the game includes the excellent Bioware companion system used in some of their other RPG’s. Can’t wait to see this and expereince the story all within my fave MMO environment. Should be a classic.

A great mix of Borderlands style with TF2 teamwork wrapped together into an MMo world. Free to play, can it get any more exciting than that…

Guild Wars 2

Obviously this games has been on my list now since I played the original for nearly a year.  I dont want to get to excited about it until I get a release date, but trust me this one will be a monster hit. Both Ame and myself had the chance to play this hands on at “Eurogamer Expo” recently and it is as good to play as I expected (maybe a little better). Boss fights were epic and underwater combat feels great.

Diablo 3

Looking very cool and probably a game I have to pick up and play at some point, although with all of the other games I’m watching it may have to take a back seat, we shall see.

This game is not actually on my list of games to play, but I know that Ame is desperate to play it and will probably be getting a new PC because of this one. :) Based on previous instalments of the series if you like open world single player RPG’s  then you gotta try this.

This is just a taste of some of the gameplay that I’m looking forward to in the coming months. :)

Sugoll. :D

Games Watch #3

A couple of action games have fallen under my gaze over the last couple of weeks.  Both of which are looking like 2011 release, but it does no harm to keep watching.

Warhammer 40k Space Marine

How can this image not instil in any human the dread of battle and the horror of galactic war:

Space Marine

Space Marine

I’ve not seen a lot on this game so far, but what I have seen looks pretty darn good. See trailer below:

This is a team based action shooter that really captured my imagination, it has some common elements to the Space Marine game about, in fact that rocket jump is a move almost identical to the 40k Dawn of War RTS game I played. However it also has a look and feel similar to Borderlands which was a bit of a RPG shooter cross-over.  Definitely one to keep my eye on in the coming weeks. Here is a look at the cinematic trailer:

This is a trailer showing some of the gameplay, looks pretty shiny to me. :)

More details can be found at the Firefall official website

Will be keeping my eye out for more info on these two.

Games Watch #2

Monday, November 8th, 2010

Welcome to the second edition of Games Watch.   Not a lot of new games announced that we are interested in this month, but some things to say about ones I am already watching.  The biggest game I am watching at the moment has to be Guild Wars 2, but I will cover that one in separate articles over the next few weeks/months.

Vindictus Update

The sad news is that Vindictus was only released in the States and not in Europe. :(  I’m not sure yet when we will get to play this awesome game, but the rumour is that it will be fairly soon.  On a more positive note, the new character Evie has been released and she looks awesome…

Diablo 3 Update

Also a new class was announced for Diablo 3, woohoo. Looks awesome, lets hope we don’t have to wait too long to play…

That’s it for now, till I start putting some thoughts together on Guild Wars 2.

Games Watch #1

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

Welcome to the first episode of Games Watch.  This will be a regular feature of the blog and contain the games that have not yet been released but have caught our eye.

I’m really excited by the potential of this game.  This is an action RPG game that’s built upon the “Source Engine” from Valve.  Its a free to download and free to play MMO, but unlike other MMO’s its engine is very action oriented, so this means fast paced combat and destructible scenery.

If this delivers half of what it promises then I think I will love it. To give you a taste of the action check out this interview:

I will keep you posted once this starts to pick up momentum.  The closed BETA started on the 15th September 2010, not sure yet when it will be available, but watch this space for further info.

Diablo III

This is the highly anticipated third release in the series from Blizzard and there is a lot of excitement building.  So far we still have no idea on the release date or even when this game will enter a BETA of some sort.  Blizzard are slowly building up the features within their website, which is worth a check if you haven’t already been there.

The gameplay is dungeon crawler style and some people find this repetitive, but they are combating this by making the skills interesting and involved and making the scenery more interactive than in the previous versions.

Expect a more detailed look at this game in future “Games Watch” episodes.
